Kerry Arnold-Herrick : Owner - Middleton Equestrian Centre
Hi I'm Kerry and I have owned MEC since June 2004. Prior to that I owned a small livery yard in Wishaw, called Foxes Court Livery, and prior to that we lived in Middleton for 5 years. It was my husband that wanted to move back to Middleton in 2004, and as MEC was the only place for sale we bought it after nearly 9 months of strife, with the comment 'well its only a few horses .... you'll manage’ !!!
Since taking over, life has never been the same, but the place has had a much needed face lift, all the horses have been replaced and now do not spend more than 2 years in the riding school environment, and are sold onto to private owners once they have ‘done their time’. This ensures that lovely, well behaved horses are rewarded with a loving one to one relationship in return for teaching many people to ride in the safety of the riding school.
I much prefer horses and dogs to people. I find them ultimately more loyal than human beings, therefore anyone visiting MEC will soon realise that it’s all about the horse – we do aim to please humans too, but our horses and ponies are very precious and remain our first priority. They all live in 5 star luxury and you will find that they are all terribly well mannered and affectionate.
I have created ‘Team Apollo’, and you can read more about our Team on the Apollo’s Pages, including our History, our Photo Gallery and any breaking news that is relevant to the Team.
The founder of the Team : Apollo’s Destiny (Duke) is still with us and is 24 years young this year.
In 2011 Buffy (State Secret) was sadly retired from competition. She continues to live the ‘high life’ with us and will remain with me for the rest of her days
We have sadly lost too many horses in the past two years, Salvadore, Daniel and Teddy have all left us, and we have had a very sobering time coming to terms with it.
I now have two new horses to compete : Skip on Over (Archie) and Brownscombe Francesca (Fran), both 5 year olds. 2012 has been a washout in more ways than one, but I hope to get my competitive edge back in 2013.
Please come and visit MEC anytime between 8am and 6pm, seven days a week, please register at reception and one of our Team will be pleased to show you around our lovely Yard, and you will meet our superb horses and ponies.
If you have any questions please email me personally on kerry@middletonequestrian.co.uk and I will do everything I can to be of assistance |
